Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00261Azure (female)

Siamese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This pretty lady is Azure. She is a refined lady of about 7 years old, still plenty young enough to play and give you years of love, but old enough to be content at home, as she waits for your return. Azure is total sweetness - like extra marshmallows in a cup of hot cocoa, but you won't need cocoa to keep you warm on these cold winter nights. Azure can handle that task all on her own :) If you're looking for love, all wrapped up in a soft, gentle, blue-eyed beauty, Azure just might be the one for you. She gets along great with other cats and doesn't mind dogs at all. All she wants is someone to love her and a place too call home. If you ... Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00241Lucy (female)

Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Lucy and I'm 4 years old. Two years ago I was rescued by a wonderful retired couple. I bonded very quickly with my daddy, we were always together, like peanut butter and jelly. Sometimes when my parents had to go somewhere, they would take me to doggy daycare, so I wouldn't get lonely. I loved it there, I made many doggie friends and always used good manners like my daddy taught me. One day my mama and daddy decided to take a vacation. They dropped me off at my day care kennel for boarding, gave me hugs and kisses...my daddy never came back for me. When my mama came for me, she told me something very tragic happened and my ... (Read More)daddy was never coming home again. I lost the sparkle in my eyes that day. It's just been me, mama and my favorite grandbabies since then. I love them, and they love me, but I was daddy's little girl and I still miss him. A few weeks ago mama hurt her back and has to have surgery, she can no longer physically take care of me. She sent out pleas for help because she didn't want me going to a kill shelter. My mama cried as a nice lady picked me up two days before the surgery. I cried too, because now I've lost what was left of my family. The nice lady can only keep me a very short time and she asked Miss Trisha for help. Miss Trisha said RARE will help me find my new family, but I need a foster home first. Thank you Miss Trisha, I haven't met you yet but when I do, mucho kisses for you!! Now I need to ask for help from all of you, can you help me get the sparkle back in my eyes?? I've made a list of Things About Me below to help you learn more about me. My name is Lucy, I am 4 years old. I have a special tag my daddy had made for me, it says I Love Lucy on the backside. My daddy was an excellent carpenter. He made me a beautiful kennel with his very own two hands and it will come with me to my new home. I am told I'm a Pointer/Staffordshire Terrier blend, possible with a little cattle dog. I know basic commands but wouldn't mind a few refresher courses to perfect my skills. I listen well and follow directions. I'm house trained and good on a leash. I love to ride in the car with you, I'm a very good passenger. I show a lot of interest in cats, so it's probably best if I'm not around them. I am great with other dogs, but bashful at first, I need to be introduced properly. I love kids. I bond quickly to my person, I like to be with you or where I can see or hear you. I am extremely smart and loving. I like to kiss a lot. I'm not hyper but I am active, I like to play, I need room to run. I prefer to eat my meals without a canine audience but I don't mind at all if my people want to hang around while I eat. I love peanut butter. I will go in a kennel but will cry. Last time my daddy put me in a kennel he never came back, I'm very fearful of them now but do ok if the door is left open. If you can foster me, or would like to adopt me, please contact RARE at ruralanimalrescueeffort@gmail.com or you can fill out a foster or adoption application at www.ruralanimalrescueeffort.org/adopt-foster If you can't foster or adopt, will you please share my story. I know someone is looking for a special girl just like me. Thank you Miss Carla for the photos. Wags and Kisses, Lucy Lucy's adoption fee is $175.00. **An application and home visit are required. American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey guys and gals, I'm Max! I'm so happy to be here! I am about 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier and I absolutely love people. I am currently in a wonderful foster home with my foster mom and dad and other dogs. I've also been around children and was very well mannered. I am great on leash and good around other dogs, especially with the ladies. I have had great success with my house training and in a routing with crate training and I only use the 'potty' outside. I am NOT good with chickens and I will hurt them, so please, no chickens! I do fine when the dogs and I are playing outside or in the house, but I do have some barrier ... (Read More)issues, so I don't like when there is a gate, fence or crate between me and another dog. It makes me very upset. However, it is certainly something I can be trained on and work through. Good news! - Whoever adopts me into their family will receive a training session with Nikki Ivey/Dog Speak included with my adoption! Unfortunately, my previous 'owners' kept me in an outside kennel, which is the reason for my barrier issues. Also, as time went on, I started to get so bored and just wanted to be with people, so I escaped my kennel at my old home and killed a neighbor's chicken. My people were so upset that they were planning on shooting me that afternoon. They didn't understand that all I wanted was some attention and love and to not be kept in solitary all day and that many dogs, if given the change, will kill a chicken. I really didn't realize that I did anything wrong, I swear! It was a miracle when a RARE foster agreed to take me in because I had torn my cruciate ligament. Thankfully, now I am able to have surgery to repair it and be able to play again without any pain. I don't have to wait to be adopted, I just need a family to let me rest and recoup for a few weeks before I start to play again. My surgery is scheduled for 1/19/2017, so please send good vibes my way! And don't hesitate to inquire about me and complete the adoption application at RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org! Please apply online at www.rurralanimalreacueeffort.org/adopt-foster. My adoption fee is $200 and a training session with the amazing Nikki Ivey with Dog Speak is included with my adoption (a $200 value)! **Max is up to date on vaccinations and neutered and will be microchipped prior to adoption.     Well, hello there! Thank you for taking a look at my profile! If you are looking for an active, compact, super friendly and loving dog, then you've come to the right place! My name is Dutchess and I am about 3-4 years old and 35 lbs. I am a muscular and stocky mauve colored staffordshire mix, but I'm rather on the small side. I am currently in foster care and loving it. I am completely crate trained and I have not had one accident in the house. I have been around dogs, cats and children and I love them all. My heart is as big as my smile and I just can't stop smiling! The humans that had "owned" me before over-bred me for a long ... (Read More)time, so I am very grateful that my breeding days are over. I can now enjoy being cared for instead. I could be ok as an apartment dog if I had a few walks or runs throughout the day. I would REALLY like to have a fenced yard or an enclosed area for exercise because I really do like to run, but I mostly want to be with you! So, even though I like to get in a good "zoomie" or two around the yard after doing my business, I want to come right back inside and be a part of whatever your doing. I want to be part of a family and not just be "owned" by one. My foster mom says that I give the best kisses, I just need to contain how excited I get because I love people SO SO much! If you are looking for a super friendly, all around fun girl with a great temperament, then look no further! Apply for me today so we can meet! I am spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, kept on intestinal parasite and heartworm preventative, and microchipped, all of which is covered under my adoption fee of $175.00. Luckily, RARE saved me and I am now at the President's home in foster care! How exciting!! My piercing amber eyes are the dreamiest and I have been told that I am even more handsome in person because of my gorgeous, shiny black coat. I am only about 18 months old, so I am full of energy and absolutely love to play ball, and do all sorts of active, outdoorsy activity, but I am also house trained and will chew on my rope ball, rope bone and other chew toys to amuse myself and keep occupied. I'd love for you to make an appointment to come and meet me, so what are you waiting for?! I would also like you to know that I am heartworm positive, but RARE will cover my treatment, at no additional cost to my adopter above my adoption fee of $200.00. Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Leonard. Me and my brother Sheldon are currently looking for either a foster or forever home, we both are living outside and even though the weather has been nice it is going to get cold soon, so we need to get inside ASAP. We have great parents, we used to live in the house with them and they have always given us the best care and lots of love. We are 3 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, UTD on our vaccinations and with a quick refresher course we will be housetrained again. The problem is, that our parents are seniors and due to health problems they can no longer keep us inside, that's why we are currently living outside. ... (Read More)They want better for us, they want us to live in a home again with a family because they say we are such good, smart, sweet boys and we deserve more than what they are physically able to give us anymore. Sheldon and I get along great with each other but we don't necessarily have to be adopted together, we've never been around other dogs so we would need to be introduced properly if you wanted to take one or both of us home to another dog. Please apply to foster or adopt by visiting our website www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org An application and home visit are required. Once your application is received, we will call you and answer any questions you have. All animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption. Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption. Out of state adoptions are possible, and transport is provided at no additional cost to the adopter. (Less)

MJ aka Trixie is a beautiful dog who never had the proper socialization. She needs a gentle, consistent person with the patience of Job. MJ enjoys interacting with people, but she must first know that she can trust. She enjoys playing with other dogs, and she loves treats. MJ probably would not make a good first dog. She should be with someone who understands the needs of an unsocialized dog. She is smart, and we believe she will make a good companion for someone with time, talent, and dedication for transforming MJ into everythng she can be.     Maryanne is a beautiful black and white Border Collie/Lab mix. She is a bit chunky, but she can run like the wind! She is very affectionate and loving with people, but she is selective when it comes to dogs. Her approximate date of birth is March of 2008, so she's not exactly a young girl. She has spent most of her life at Rescue, after she and her brother were tossed over the shelter fence in the middle of the night. She has known great love here but little else.     Hi, I'm Zoey and I'm sure you have met my mini-me daughter Tiny. I know she has already told most of you how we came to rescue, so here is our story again..through my daughters eyes. We used to live...well survive from the kindness of strangers. You see, we were chained in a back yard, we didn't have anything to keep the sun or rain off of us and we didn't have anything to eat. Our tummy's hurt so much and we would cry, we cried all night from hunger. There was a nice family next door, that lived behind a big fence, they heard our cries and started tossing food over the fence for us. Then they must have sneeked a look at us and saw how ... We know now that heros, really do exist. As you can tell I'm smooth chow mix but what you may not realize is Chows are great dogs, they are quiet, clean, beautiful, loving, loyal, smart and have awesome purple tongues. The ladies here aren't sure what I am mixed with but they say I have an amazingly friendly personality, I love everyone and have shown no issues whatsoever. So wha are you waiting for??Please apply for me online at http://www.adoptapet.com/rural-animal-rescue-effort-rare/adoption-application-2/ or email us at ruralanimalrescueeffort@gmail.com and we will send you one.     Nice to meet you, I'm Amber Leigh! I am the most awesome, gorgeous girl ever. I am 3-4 years old, great on a leash and super smart. I am great with kids and I've been known to give them lots of gentle kisses. I absolutely love to be around humans. I may look muscular and stocky, weighing 50 lbs, but I am a low-rider and a softy at heart. I guard my food around other dogs, so I will need to work with a trainer on that or at least fed meals separate from other animals, or be the only dog, but I've NEVER shown any aggression towards humans, even with my food.     My name is Ringo, although I'm not sure if it's because I'm such a rock star or if it's because I have rings on my beautiful tail! I lived on my own for a long time, and several people tried to catch me. Most of them weren't successful, but one young lady managed to snare me. She took me to the vet, and I was vaccinated (ouch!) neutered (whose idea was that?), and loved (YES!). I stayed at the clinic from October until December because there was no place else for me to go. I was a bit shy when I first arrived there, but the vet techs played with me when they could. Since coming to Red Fern, I have made many, many friends, both two-legged and ... (Read More)four. I am great with kids too! I'm no longer at all frightened of people, and I can't wait to belong with someone special. As a bonus, I enjoy walking and am good on a leash. The people at Red Fern tell me every day how much they love me and what a good boy I am. They say I am a calm and happy boy! I know that someone is going to say, 'That's the boy for me!' very soon, and I'll be packing my bones and heading out. Today could be that day! Ringo's adoption fee is $200.00. If you are interested in becoming Ringo's person, please submit an adoption application. Someone from Red Fern will contact you and answer any questions you have about Ringo.     Hey folks!! My name is Copper and I'm a hunka hunka burning love...80 pounds of love that is. I'm a bit of a clown and I enjoy making people laugh...now people...I love me some people. I just can't get enough of having my ears scratched, my nose kissed and my belly rubbed, but when it comes to dogs, I am a ladies man and like to be around a submissive female. I'm ok with cats though. I really love kids too but I get excited at the site of them and just want to run over and kiss them and play. The problem is, I'm such a big boy, and somewhat of a clutz at times.I'm afraid my excitement may cause me to knock them down accidentally. My foster ... (Read More)mama says I'd be best with older kids, that weigh more than me. A home with a fenced yard would be a dream come true, because I sure would love to run and play off leash. If you have a BIG bed, that would be an added bonus, a boy has got to have room to stretch while he's protecting you from bed bugs. The only bug that should be in the bed is a love bug and that would be ME. If you'd like to adopt me please apply online at http://www.adoptapet.com/rural-animal-rescue-effort-rare/adoption-application-2/ Home visit, application and vet reference is required. Transport can be arranged at no additional cost. **Copper is UTD on vaccinations, on heartworm preventative, neutered and micro-chipped. Transport can be arranged to approved home or an approved foster (Less)
